The chance is there.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
We finished the sweet (get it!!) little book last week!  Such fun and always a good time.  This was the first "big kid" chapter book that actually captivated Kendall.  We'll call that a win!!  I think most people know the general story of the famous factory so I won't go into details of the plot.  After reading we watched the new movie version with Johnny Depp.  They love to compare the book and movie version.  After that we went on our promised trip to Hammond's Candy Factory.  What a great little tour!  It is short enough that other visitors didn't despise Scarlet for the amount of noise she makes but enough that Parker and Kendall thought it was thrilling.  At the end, each kid was given a fancy lollipop (food coloring, blerg) and I let them each choose a huge candy cane (all natural, YAY!).  Here are some pictures from our adventure!

Oh, and we got some fancy little hats.  Sadly, no Oompa Loompas could be found.  Trust me, we looked.
